in pink, the stone is rubellite, colored by manganese caught in the crystal as pegmatite cooled. some ovals sit near coral, some near raspberry. in green, verdelite, colored by iron held in the same rock. the range runs from young leaf to deep forest. no two stones hold the same tone, and the difference shows as the hand turns.
diamonds sit in the spaces between, small and brilliant-cut. they carry the eye from one stone to the next, and hold light where the gold curves.
the band has no front. prongs rise out of the metal at uneven angles, so the ring reads as grown rather than assembled. worn alone it is a full statement. stacked, it warms everything next to it.
